Life and death: putting it all together, sentence 1

The children's answers gather the whole journey: it is okay to be very sad when a pet dies; to a friend whose parent died you can simply say «I'm sorry» and then be a normal friend; funerals are less scary once you know what happens; and grief comes back on birthdays and holidays, in waves that slowly get gentler.

Who acts: answers, pet, parent, you, I, funerals · What happens: gather, be, die, say, know, happen · To what, where: whole journey, normal friend, birthdays · Speech: someone speaks here

This is a sentence of the lesson «Life and death: putting it all together» of the religion ethics course of Mova's primary school. The page gives its syntax tree — a dependency tree in the style of Universal Dependencies — and its pragmatics clause by clause: who acts (answers, pet, parent, you), what happens, when and where, as Mova's frames read it from the tree.

The tree: Mova annot: Rust (en) → Haiku 5.5 (medium, Batches API) patches; gates UD 2.18; agreed by treeagree rules (Stanza, Trankit, spaCy trf): R6-punct-agree ×1, R7-rel-agree ×2, R8-pos-agree ×1. The frames are read from the tree by Mova's frames reader (prag) when this page is built, the lesson read in order, so a pronoun may be resolved from an earlier sentence.
