The scale turns map centimetres into real distances: on a map where 1 centimetre is 2 kilometres, a path of 5 centimetres is 10 kilometres; walking about 4 kilometres an hour, that takes two and a half hours.

This is a sentence of the lesson «Map reading puzzles» of the world course of Mova's primary school.
