sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: God's "soul" being alienated means He pulls away in disgust from Jerusalem and from unfaithful Oholah and Oholibah, who stand for Samaria and Jerusalem. It is a warning that He may leave a people who leave Him. Interpretation: The prophets use this picture of a broken marriage to show that God's love is real and that Israel's faithlessness really hurts the relationship. The warning is meant to make the people return.
