sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In Exodus it means a clear separation that God makes between Israel and Egypt during the plagues. In Joshua and Judges it also means the tribal groups or shares of the land, such as "the divisions of Reuben." Interpretation: Tradition sees the division in Egypt as a sign that God's power rules, protecting Israel in Goshen while Egypt suffers. The land was divided among the tribes by lot before the LORD at Shiloh. In the primary lessons: the operation of sharing equally or finding how many groups; signs: ÷ or / or a fraction bar; in maths: «long division», the dividend, the divisor and the quotient; in sport: teams play in divisions; in science: cells grow by cell division

note

Names the operation. Equal sharing and «how many groups of» both mean division. Division undoes multiplication: 12 ÷ 3 = 4 because 3 × 4 = 12. Trap: you cannot divide by zero. Order matters: 12 ÷ 3 is not 3 ÷ 12.
