sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: It can mean made wider, in the sense of freed from a tight or cramped place. The psalmist says that God made his steps wide so that he did not slip. Interpretation: Tradition reads wideness as safety and freedom, and narrowness as trouble. The word for Egypt, Mitzrayim, is read as meaning narrow straits. In the primary lessons: In maths «enlarged» shapes keep the same angles but get longer sides — the scale factor tells you how many times bigger; in art and photocopying you enlarge pictures. Phrases: «enlarged by a scale factor of 2», «enlarged photo», «an enlarged copy».
