Countable: a grouping, groupings. In maths, «grouping» for division means: how many groups of a given size fit into a number, e.g. 12 ÷ 3 = 4 groups of 3. Brackets change the grouping and so the answer: (2 + 3) × 4 = 20, but 2 + 3 × 4 = 14.
