note

Past: joined. You join a club (no «to»): «join the club», not «join to the club». Joining means add. Trap: in a story about leaving and joining, add those who join and take away those who leave. Joining ropes end to end adds their lengths (3 × 2 m = 6 m); knots may use some of the rope if the story says so.
