Interpretation: In Jewish tradition each day begins at evening, following "and there was evening and there was morning". So Shabbat and the festivals begin at nightfall. In the primary lessons: In science, night happens because the Earth spins: the side facing away from the Sun is in darkness; nocturnal animals like owls are awake at night. In safety: wear bright or reflective clothes if out at night; children need about ten hours of sleep each night. Phrases: at night, good night, last night, tonight, all night, overnight, night and day.
