sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah, it means a person's trade or work, such as shepherd. In the later books it can also mean one's daily business or toil, as in Ecclesiastes, and Jonah's sailors ask him what his occupation is. Interpretation: Joseph tells his brothers to say they are shepherds so Pharaoh will let them live apart in Goshen. In the primary lessons: On forms an «occupation» box asks what your job is. In history lessons it tells of soldiers ruling another land. In everyday life signs such as «maximum occupation 50» tell how many people may be in a room. Phrases: «by occupation» (a baker by occupation), «under occupation», «occupation of a house».
