note
«the same number in each» points to equal groups: multiply or divide. «A has the same as B» or «an identical quantity» means A's count equals B's: if B has 9, A has 9 too, and together they have 18. Usually «the same»: «the same colour», not «same colour». Say «the same as», not «the same like». «Same!» alone means «me too», not a count. Opposite: different.
