How animals defend themselves, sentence 12
A honeybee's barbed sting gets stuck in thick skin like ours and tears away, so the bee dies; wasps have smooth stings and can sting again; the hive is full of the bee's sisters, so dying to protect it protects its family.
Who acts: barbed sting, bee, wasps, hive, honeybee · What happens: get, tear away, die, have, sting, be · To what, where: smooth stings, sting, family
This is a sentence of the lesson «How animals defend themselves» of the biology course of Mova's primary school. The page gives its syntax tree — a dependency tree in the style of Universal Dependencies — and its pragmatics clause by clause: who acts (barbed sting, bee, wasps, hive), what happens, when and where, as Mova's frames read it from the tree.
