Conservation: how people help animals come back, sentence 4

Bald eagles fell to about 400 to 500 nesting pairs in the lower 48 US states by the 1960s, partly because the pesticide DDT, building up from tiny water bugs into the fish and then into the eagles that ate them, made their eggshells too thin; after DDT was banned in 1972 they recovered to well over 300,000 birds.

Who acts: Bald eagles, 400 pairs, pesticide DDT, eagles · What happens: fell, nest, build up, eat, make, ban · To what, where: 400 pairs, tiny water bugs, eagles, eggshells, DDT, 1972

This is a sentence of the lesson «Conservation: how people help animals come back» of the biology course of Mova's primary school. The page gives its syntax tree — a dependency tree in the style of Universal Dependencies — and its pragmatics clause by clause: who acts (Bald eagles, 400 pairs, pesticide DDT, eagles), what happens, when and where, as Mova's frames read it from the tree.

The tree: Mova annot: Rust (en) → Haiku 5.5 (medium, Batches API) patches; gates UD 2.18; agreed by treeagree rules (Stanza, Trankit, spaCy trf): R5-strong ×6, R7-rel-agree ×3. The frames are read from the tree by Mova's frames reader (prag) when this page is built, the lesson read in order, so a pronoun may be resolved from an earlier sentence.
