Kipling's word games: «Best Beloved», the 'Stute Fish, «Humph!» and the great grey-green, greasy Limpopo, sentence 7

A clipped word is a long word with a part cut off: «'Stute» comes from «astute» (clever), «'scruciating» from «excruciating»; the apostrophe shows where letters are missing, just as in «don't» and «it's».

Who acts: clipped word, Stute, apostrophe, letters · What happens: clip, be, cut off, come, scruciat, excruciate · To what, where: long word, part, astute », », «

The tree: Mova annot: Rust (en) → Haiku 5.5 (medium, Batches API) patches; gates UD 2.18; agreed by treeagree rules (Stanza, Trankit, spaCy trf): R5-strong ×5, R6-punct-agree ×2, R7-rel-agree ×1, R8-pos-agree ×1. The frames are read from the tree by Mova's frames reader (prag) when this page is built, the lesson read in order, so a pronoun may be resolved from an earlier sentence.
