Irregular verbs: goed, brung and other brave mistakes, sentence 14
"Went" was once the past of the old verb "wend", meaning to go; when a verb's forms come from different words, it is called suppletion, and "be" (am, is, was, were) is built the same patchwork way.
Who acts: Went, old verb, forms, verb · What happens: be, mean, go, come, call, build · To what, where: past, different words, chippy, be · Speech: someone speaks here
This is a sentence of the lesson «Irregular verbs: goed, brung and other brave mistakes» of the language course of Mova's primary school. The page gives its syntax tree — a dependency tree in the style of Universal Dependencies — and its pragmatics clause by clause: who acts (Went, old verb, forms, verb), what happens, when and where, as Mova's frames read it from the tree.
