Ice on ponds and cold water in winter, sentence 1

Under the ice the water is only about 4 °C, and in water that cold the body gasps, then hands and legs stop working within minutes; people, children too, die on UK ice every winter, so the rule is simple: never go onto frozen ponds, lakes, rivers or canals.

Who acts: water, hands, people, rule · What happens: be, cold, gasp, stop, work, die · To what, where: 4, ice, body, UK ice, frozen ponds

The tree: Mova annot: Rust (en) → Haiku 5.5 (medium, Batches API) patches; gates UD 2.18; agreed by treeagree rules (Stanza, Trankit, spaCy trf): no change. The frames are read from the tree by Mova's frames reader (prag) when this page is built, the lesson read in order, so a pronoun may be resolved from an earlier sentence.
