sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Bethel was an important town in Israel where Jacob dreamed of a ladder, later a shrine of King Jeroboam's calf worship. It is also part of the name Bethel-sarezer. Interpretation: Prophets such as Amos warned against Bethel's false worship. Jacob's dream there is remembered as a place where heaven met earth.
