sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah blood is the life of a creature. It is dashed on the altar, and people may not eat it. The prophets and psalms also use it for killing: shedding innocent blood is a grave crime, and in the plagues the Nile waters were turned to blood. Interpretation: Tradition teaches that the blood is the life and belongs to God, so it is poured out and not eaten, and meat is salted to draw it out. Spilling human blood is a grave crime, and the prophets cry out against cities built with blood. In the primary lessons: In science: blood carries oxygen and food to every part of the body and takes waste away; red blood cells carry oxygen, white blood cells fight germs, platelets help a cut stop bleeding; the heart pumps blood through arteries and veins. In first aid: press on a bleeding cut with a clean cloth and tell an adult; do not touch other people's blood without gloves. Phrases: blood vessel, blood cells, lose blood, give blood, blood test, blood type, in your blood, cold-blooded, warm-blooded.

note
Uncountable: «some blood», not «a blood» or «bloods». The oo is said like the u in «mud». Myth: blood is never blue — it is dark red in veins and bright red in arteries. «Bleed» (bleed, bled) is the verb. In the UK «bloody» is also a rude word; avoid it.
