sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Here a bond is a promise a person takes on, such as a vow to give up something. In the prophets it is also a chain or restraint, like a yoke, and a binding agreement. Interpretation: Tradition teaches that a father or husband may cancel a young woman's or wife's vow on the day he hears of it, but if he stays silent, the vow stands. It also stresses how serious a spoken promise is. The prophets speak of God loosing the bonds of kings and breaking the bonds of oppressors, and of bringing Israel "into the bond of the covenant," which the tradition reads as the binding relationship between God and Israel. In the primary lessons: In maths, especially in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, «number bonds to 10» and «to 100» are key facts: 6 and 4 are a number bond to 10. In science, bonds join atoms in molecules. In PSHE, children learn about the bond between family members and friends. Phrases: «number bonds», «a close bond», «bond with».
