sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Here the breast is the chest of an animal offering, which was waved before God and given to the priests as their portion. In the later books it is also the human breast, where a baby is nursed, and a part of the body in mourning and in love poetry. Interpretation: Tradition says the breast and thigh of peace offerings belong to the priests, as part of what God gave them for their service. In Song of Songs the breasts are part of a poem of love, and the tradition reads that book as a picture of God's love for Israel. Isaiah speaks of people smiting their breasts in grief. In the primary lessons: Used in science and health lessons (mammals feed babies breast milk), cooking (chicken breast), swimming (breaststroke) and old stories and poems for the chest or heart. Phrases: breastfeed, breaststroke, chicken breast, robin redbreast, make a clean breast of it (confess everything).
