sense in the lessons

Interpretation: Isaiah uses deaf for people who do not listen to God, though they have ears, as a picture of Israel's spiritual deafness. The rabbis read the ban on cursing the deaf as protecting anyone who cannot hear or defend themselves. It teaches that wrong is wrong even if the victim never knows. In the primary lessons: In everyday life and lessons about differences, pupils learn that deaf people may use sign language (such as BSL in the UK, ASL in the USA and Canada, Auslan in Australia), lip reading, hearing aids or cochlear implants. In safety, loud noise can damage hearing. Phrases: deaf person, go deaf, partially deaf, fall on deaf ears, turn a deaf ear.
