sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: "Hewers of wood and drawers of water" were the humblest workers in the camp. Later the word names the many workers who cut stone and timber for Solomon's Temple, and Jeremiah compares an army with axes to hewers of wood. Interpretation: The rabbis point out that even the lowliest workers stand with all Israel at the covenant, and the Gibeonites later took this job. The Temple builders are remembered as skilled labourers in a holy work.
