sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: A young sheep was the usual animal for offerings. Lambs were offered daily and on festivals, and had to be without blemish. The prophets and writings also show lambs as ordinary farm animals, and as a picture of helpless people led to slaughter. Interpretation: The Passover lamb recalls the night in Egypt when God passed over Israelite houses. Two lambs were offered every day, one in the morning and one at twilight. In Nathan's story to David, the poor man's lamb is read as a parable of Uriah, and the lamb's fourfold repayment as David's own judgment on himself. In the primary lessons: a young animal counted on a farm; sheep and lambs may be added together; in science: lambs are mammals, born in spring, they drink their mother's milk, a lamb grows into a sheep; in stories and rhymes: «Mary had a little lamb»; phrases: «like a lamb» (quietly, gently), «lambing season»
