sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Laying a hand on someone's head was a gesture of blessing. In the prophets and Psalms it also means setting traps or siege, and bringing a city low. Interpretation: Jacob laid his right hand on the younger Ephraim, which is the model for parents blessing children today. Isaiah's "laying it low" is read as God's bringing down of proud cities. In the primary lessons: In maths: hens laying eggs at a rate: eggs = hens × eggs per hen × days; laying tiles or bricks in rows: rows × tiles per row. In science: birds, reptiles, fish and insects lay eggs. At home: laying the table for dinner. Phrases: laying eggs, laying the table, laying bricks, laying tiles, laying hens.

note
«Lay» needs an object (lay the table, lay eggs): lay, laid, laying. Do not mix it up with «lie» (to rest flat): lie, lay, lain, lying. «I am lying in bed», not «laying in bed». A rate: eggs = hens × eggs per hen × days. Trap: count each hen's eggs, not just the hens.
