sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In older English "meat" meant any food, not only flesh. Here it means food that was prepared for a meal. Interpretation: Later Jewish law has rules about which meat may be eaten (kosher) and forbids mixing meat with milk. Those rules are not in this verse, where "meat" simply means food. In the primary lessons: In health and food, meat gives us protein, which helps build muscles; a balanced diet can include meat, fish, beans and eggs. In safety, raw meat can carry germs, so keep it away from other food, wash hands and chopping boards after touching it, and cook it all the way through (no pink chicken). In science, animals that eat mainly meat are carnivores. People who don't eat meat are vegetarians; vegans eat no animal products at all.
