sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In Leviticus, to uncover someone's nakedness is a phrase for forbidden marriage or relations with close relatives. The prophets also use it for shame: a city or nation "uncovered" is shamed and punished, and unfaithful Israel is pictured as a woman who uncovers her nakedness. Interpretation: The rabbis took these laws as the list of forbidden relationships, and the idea that family holiness depends on them. Tradition reads the prophets' words as warnings that sins like these bring shame and punishment on the people.
