sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In Proverbs it means the gains or goods a person gets, here by wrongdoing. A sacrifice brought with the proceeds of wickedness is not accepted. Interpretation: The tradition reads this as teaching that an offering bought with dishonest gain is no gift to God, since honesty comes before worship. In the primary lessons: In maths problems "the proceeds" is the money taken in, often before or after costs are taken away; "all proceeds go to charity" means every bit of the money raised is given away. In stories the verb shows the next action: "she proceeds to eat the whole cake". Phrases: the proceeds of the sale, all proceeds go to, proceeds to.

note
As a noun it is always plural: "the proceeds were", never "a proceed". Proceeds (money taken in) is not always profit: profit is proceeds minus costs. Do not confuse with "precedes" (comes before). In maths, "proceeds" usually means the total money collected.
