sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah it means with arrogance. Jethro says the Egyptians "dealt proudly" against Israel, and so were punished. In the Psalms and Job it describes the wicked who speak and act with arrogance, even against God. Interpretation: Tradition reads it as the Egyptians being punished by the same means with which they were arrogant, such as water. Job is read as showing that proud defiance of God brings downfall. In the primary lessons: In stories, «said proudly» or «smiled proudly» tells the reader a character feels pride — at winning, finishing something hard, or a family member's success. In writing lessons it is an example adverb for dialogue tags. Phrases: «smiled proudly», «proudly showed», «proudly presents», «stood proudly».
