sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Prophets, people make ready chariots, shields and weapons for battle. In Job, calamity is ready for the wicked person's fall. Interpretation: At Mount Sinai the people were told to be ready for three days before God spoke. Tradition reads this as showing that revelation needs preparation. Job's words are read as a picture of the downfall that waits for the wicked. In the primary lessons: In everyday life «Are you ready?» is asked before school, a trip or a game; «get ready» means prepare (dress, pack the bag). In races: «Ready, steady, go!» (UK) or «Ready, set, go!» (USA). In cooking, food is ready when it is cooked enough to eat safely. In safety, «ready» is about planning: knowing the fire escape route and having an emergency kit. Phrases: get ready, ready for, ready to go, ready-made.
