sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In Joshua and Samuel the rearward is the rear guard that follows behind. In Isaiah, God Himself is the rearward of Israel, guarding them from behind as they leave exile. Interpretation: In the wilderness the tribe of Dan marched last and gathered all the camps. The tradition says Dan's group collected anything or anyone left behind. Isaiah's promise is read as God protecting His people from every side, going before them and behind them.
