sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In Job, "I desire to reason with God" means to argue one's case before Him. The phrase "by reason of" continues in Job and Psalms, as in "by reason of their shame". Interpretation: Job's wish to reason with God is read as the right of a person to question honestly. In the primary lessons: In maths and science, pupils are asked to «give a reason» or «explain your reasoning»: say why your answer is true. In everyday life, rules have reasons, often safety. In stories, reasons explain why characters act. Phrases: «for this reason», «the reason why», «for no reason», «within reason» (sensibly, not too much), «reason with someone» (try to persuade them calmly).
