sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah the stork is a bird listed among those that are unclean and may not be eaten. The prophets and psalms also notice that it nests in fir-trees and that it knows the times of its yearly flying. Interpretation: The Hebrew name chasidah means "the kind one." The rabbis explain that the stork is kind to its own kind but still not a kosher bird. Jeremiah says the stork knows its appointed time while God's people do not know His ordinance, and the tradition reads this as a call to return to God. In the primary lessons: In science lessons about animals and migration, white storks fly long distances between Europe and Africa each year and build huge nests on roofs and chimneys. In old stories and cartoons, a stork is said to bring babies to families; this is a fairy tale, not true.
