The real animals of the Just So Stories: the whale, camel, rhino, leopard, elephant, kangaroo, armadillo and crab, sentence 13

A leopard is born with its rosettes (rings of dark spots) because the pattern is passed down from its parents, the way your eye colour is; every leopard's pattern is different, and the spotty coat hides it in the dappled shade of trees and long grass.

Who acts: pattern, spotty coat, leopard · What happens: bear, pass down, be, hide, pattern, shade · To what, where: leopard, pattern, dappled shade, trees

This is a sentence of the lesson «The real animals of the Just So Stories: the whale, camel, rhino, leopard, elephant, kangaroo, armadillo and crab» of the biology course of Mova's primary school. The page gives its syntax tree — a dependency tree in the style of Universal Dependencies — and its pragmatics clause by clause: who acts (pattern, spotty coat, leopard), what happens, when and where, as Mova's frames read it from the tree.

Sentence school:biology:404-the-real-animals-of-the-just-so-stories-whale-camel-rhino-leopard-elephant-kangaroo-armadillo-crab.lesson:13.

The tree: Mova annot: Rust (en) → Haiku 5.5 (medium, Batches API) patches; gates UD 2.18; agreed by treeagree rules (Stanza, Trankit, spaCy trf): R5-strong ×2, R8-pos-agree ×1. The frames are read from the tree by Mova's frames reader (prag) when this page is built, the lesson read in order, so a pronoun may be resolved from an earlier sentence.
