Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the rest of the English-speaking world, sentence 13

The Republic of Ireland, with its capital Dublin and about 5.4 million people, became independent in 1922 and a republic in 1949, and Irish is its first official language though most people speak English every day, because centuries of English rule, English-only schooling and the famine pushed Irish back.

Who acts: Republic, Irish, most people, centuries · What happens: become, be, speak, push back · To what, where: republic, first official language, English, Irish · Speech: someone speaks here

The tree: Mova annot: Rust (en) → Haiku 5.5 (medium, Batches API) patches; gates UD 2.18; agreed by treeagree rules (Stanza, Trankit, spaCy trf): R5-strong ×1, R7-rel-agree ×2. The frames are read from the tree by Mova's frames reader (prag) when this page is built, the lesson read in order, so a pronoun may be resolved from an earlier sentence.
