Daniel and his friends, captives in Babylon, kept God's food laws; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego would not bow to a golden statue and walked unharmed in the fiery furnace; Daniel kept praying despite a law against it and was kept safe in the lions' den, and he read the writing on the wall that warned a proud king his kingdom would end.
