sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah the Ammonites are a neighboring people descended from Lot, and not a fossil animal. They are not allowed to join the assembly of the LORD. Later books also name individual Ammonites, such as Zelek, a soldier of King David, and Tobiah, who mocked the builders of Jerusalem's wall. Interpretation: The rabbis explained this rule by the Ammonites' lack of kindness to Israel. They later taught that the ban applies only to Ammonite men, and that Ruth the Moabite became the great-grandmother of King David. Zelek shows that an Ammonite could live among Israel's warriors, while Tobiah is read as an enemy of the rebuilding. In the primary lessons: In science lessons on fossils and rocks, ammonites are among the commonest fossils, found on beaches such as the Jurassic Coast in Dorset and Whitby in Yorkshire, where Mary Anning collected them. They lived in the seas in the time of the dinosaurs and died out at the same time. Their spiral shell is also used in maths lessons to look at spirals. Phrases: «ammonite fossil», «fossil hunting», «coiled ammonite».
