In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Often means "on the other side of the Jordan River," the land east of where Israel entered. It can also mean farther than, or too great for: God is great beyond our knowledge. Isaiah uses it for a far land beyond the rivers of Ethiopia. Interpretation: The tradition reads "beyond our knowledge" as meaning that God cannot be fully understood by people. In the primary lessons: In maths, «beyond» can mean «greater than», as in counting beyond 100. In geography and stories, places are «beyond the mountains» or «beyond the sea», which makes them sound far and mysterious. In science, space is beyond the Earth's atmosphere.
