sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: "The deep" means the great watery abyss, the ocean under the earth and over which God's spirit hovered before creation. In Job and the Psalms the deeps are the sea's far depths, and "deep things of God" means what is hard to understand. Interpretation: Tradition reads "the deep" (tehom) as the primeval waters from which the world was formed. Sefer Yetzirah also speaks of a mystical "depth" as one of the ten dimensions. Job's "deep things of God" are read as the mysteries people cannot fully grasp. In the primary lessons: maths: a measure of depth (how far down), in pools, holes, rivers and boxes; used for volume (length × width × deep) and comparisons; science: the deep sea, deep roots; safety: the deep end of a pool, only swim where an adult can see you; stories: a deep forest, a deep voice; phrases: «deep down», «take a deep breath»
