sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Used for swapping goods, such as Joseph giving bread for animals in the famine. In the Writings and Prophets it can also mean to trade one thing for another, as Israel traded its glory for an idol, or to swap land. Interpretation: In the Sefer Yetzirah, "exchanged" letters means shifting them into different combinations to form all things. The psalm says Israel "exchanged their glory" for an ox, which the tradition reads as the sin of the golden calf. Ezekiel forbids exchanging the holy portion of land. In the primary lessons: In maths: a swap at a rate: things or money traded for others (4 stickers for 1 card, dollars for coins); divide or multiply by the rate; one side goes down and the other goes up. In history: people exchanged goods before money (trading, bartering). Phrases: exchange for, in exchange, exchange rate, exchange gifts, exchange student.
