sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: "Shined" means gave out light. The Bible speaks of God shining forth from Sinai and from Zion, and of the sun and moon shining or withdrawing their light. The letter Shin is written on tefillin and on the mezuzah case as a sign of God's name Shaddai. Sefer Yetzirah makes it one of the three Mother letters, standing for fire. Interpretation: The three-headed Shin is seen as a letter of fire. The book sets fire against water, with air as the balance between them. The shining of God from Zion is read as His glory and Torah going out to the world. In the primary lessons: In sport and safety lessons shins are protected by shin pads in football and hockey; a knock on the shin hurts a lot because the bone is just under the skin. Phrases: «shin pads», «shin guards», «kick someone in the shin», «shin up a tree».

Countable. Double n in shinned, shinning. Shin pads (UK) = shin guards (US). Do not confuse with «chin» or «shine». The shin bone has little padding, which is why knocks there hurt so much.
