sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah, to make an offering smoke means to burn it on the altar so that its smoke rises up. In Psalms and Job, smoke is also a picture: God's anger "smokes" against His people, and life passes away like smoke. Interpretation: Tradition teaches that the smoke of offerings rose to God as a pleasing "savour." The tradition reads smoking anger as a poet's picture of God's strong displeasure, and fading like smoke as the shortness of human life. In the primary lessons: In science, smoke is tiny bits of burnt material in the air. In safety: smoke is very dangerous; smoke alarms warn of fire — test them; in a fire, crawl low under smoke and get out; smoking cigarettes harms the lungs and heart and is not for children. Phrases: smoke alarm, smoke detector, no smoking, go up in smoke (fail), where there's smoke there's fire.
