sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah it is a light in the sky made by God and a picture of the huge number of Israel's people, promised to Abraham. In the Prophets and Writings stars are also the high heavens, and in Deborah's song they fight against Sisera. Isaiah calls a fallen king "day-star," the morning star. Interpretation: God's promise that Abraham's children would be like the stars is a key blessing. Tradition teaches that Israel is under God's care, above the influence of stars. Deborah's song is read as saying that heaven itself helped Israel, and Isaiah's verse as a picture of a proud tyrant's fall. Sefer Yetzirah connects the seven planets with the seven double letters. In the primary lessons: Science: stars give their own light; planets do not; the Sun is the closest star; groups of stars are constellations. In maths a thing counted: stars in the sky, star stickers on a chart, stars drawn or earned; star shapes with 5 points. Everyday: a star pupil, five-star hotel, «reach for the stars».
