sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: "Own treasure" (Hebrew segulah) means a people God holds especially dear, as a king keeps a private store of precious things. The Psalms say again that God chose Israel for His own treasure, and call Israel His "treasured ones". Treasure can also mean wealth, as when Job is told that the Almighty will be his treasure. Interpretation: Israel is called God's own treasure at Sinai if it keeps the covenant. Jewish tradition reads this as Israel's special duty and closeness to God, not as a claim to be better. In the primary lessons: In stories, pirates bury treasure and draw treasure maps with an X. In maths and geography, treasure hunts use grid references, coordinates and compass directions to find hidden things. In history, real treasures dug from the ground show how people lived long ago. Phrases: «treasure hunt», «treasure map», «buried treasure», «treasure chest».
