Friendship

Gist. Friendship and loyalty: do not betray, give thanks, keep your word.

Conditions and exceptions. Loyalty to someone who does evil is not a virtue.

Examples.

• The Two Friends and the Bear (Aesop): one friend climbed a tree and abandoned the other. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
• The Lion and the Mouse: gratitude and mutual help make friends of unequals.

Sources. Aesop's fables; Jn 15:13.
