sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In this verse it means to bear the burden of leading. Moses is told to share the work of judging so he can last. Elsewhere it means to last a long time, as God's promise that David's seed shall endure for ever, or to put up with something, as the earth cannot endure certain wrongs. Interpretation: Tradition reads it as Jethro's advice to appoint judges. It is the start of a system of courts in Israel. The promise that David's seed endures is read as pointing to the Messiah, a king from David's family. In the primary lessons: Stories of courage and hardship, science (materials that endure), history, faith (the Bible speaks of love that endures).
