sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: The Psalms, Proverbs and Hosea use it for being held to account or found at fault. Hosea says Ephraim became guilty through Baal and died. Interpretation: The law says a guilty person must confess in words and bring an offering. Courts must judge from careful testimony. The later verses are read as saying that wrongdoing, especially idol worship, brings its own punishment. In the primary lessons: In lessons about feelings and honesty, guilt is the uncomfortable feeling after lying or hurting someone; saying sorry and putting things right helps. In stories and law, the court decides if someone is guilty or not guilty. Phrases: «feel guilty», «guilty of», «found guilty», «a guilty conscience».
