sense in the lessons
In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: A skilled craftsman who made the holy anointing oil and the incense for the tabernacle. Later, perfumers were an ordinary trade: Samuel warned that a king would take daughters to be perfumers, and Hananiah the perfumer helped repair Jerusalem's wall. Interpretation: The rabbis said the oil and incense had to be made exactly as commanded, with no changes. Ecclesiastes uses the perfumer's spoiled ointment as a picture of how a little folly can ruin great wisdom.
