sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Reuben and Gad promised Moses they would fight in the conquest of the land before returning to their homes east of the Jordan. Moses said that if they did they would be "clear before the LORD and before Israel." In Judges and Psalms it also means enemy peoples like Moab and Ammon were beaten and brought under Israel's rule. Interpretation: Judges tells how a people was subdued when Israel was faithful, and the Psalms say that Israel was subdued by enemies when it forgot God. The tradition reads this as a pattern of faith and trouble. In the primary lessons: In stories and feelings lessons, «subdued» is a good word to show a character is quietly unhappy, worried or tired. In art and design, «subdued colours» are soft and muted. In history, peoples and lands were «subdued» by armies. Phrases: «a subdued mood», «subdued lighting», «in a subdued voice».
