Interpretation: Sefer Yetzirah says the twenty-two letters are formed in five places of the mouth, the throat being the first. The psalms say idols have no voice in their throat, while a throat dried from crying shows a person's distress. In the primary lessons: In science the throat leads to two tubes: the food pipe (oesophagus) to the stomach and the windpipe (trachea) to the lungs; a small flap stops food going down the wrong way. Your voice box is in your throat. In health lessons a sore throat is a common sign of a cold, and small objects can block the throat and cause choking, so chew food well and keep tiny things away from babies. Phrases: sore throat, clear your throat, lump in your throat, cut-throat.
