sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Here "tongue" often means a language, as in the nations spreading after their tongues. In Job and the Psalms it is the tongue as speech, which can be false, deceitful or sharp as a razor. Interpretation: The peoples of Genesis 10 are counted by their languages, which tradition sees as leading into the story of Babel. The rabbis warn that harmful speech is a serious sin. In the primary lessons: In science lessons, the tongue is covered with taste buds that sense sweet, salty, sour, bitter and savoury (umami). It also moves food and helps make sounds for speech. In manners, sticking out your tongue is rude. Phrases: «hold your tongue» (stay quiet), «on the tip of my tongue» (almost remembered), «tongue-twister», «bite your tongue» (stop yourself saying something), «tongue in cheek» (joking).
